Online Jobs: Four “Don’ts”

Thousands of people dream to become freelance writers and only the most cautious of them let the dreams come true. There are lots of articles written about the advantages of online jobs and what you should do to become a successful freelance writer. However, there is something else you should know – what you should not do as a freelancer.

Do not quit your full-time job.

Jobs online usually bring freelance writers additional income in amount of $20,000 a year on average. Of course, there are cases when freelance writing ensures a decent living for a person doing freelance writing jobs on a regular basis. However, you should be realistic: spending hours on writing is a depleting task. If you have passion to write, go for it. And start thinking of quitting your full-time only once you are famous or get a spouse that could maintain you for the whole life.

Do not blame a spell checker for rejection.

It is clear that you should avoid any flaws and mistakes while writing because editors will not spend their time for checking your pieces of writing. However, if your writing is excellent in its content, you will hardly be rejected. Maybe it is the 10th time you are already rejected when reading this article? Then why not to think of refining your writing skills instead of buying a new spell checker?

Do not fall in love with your own writing.

Criticism has never been bad for freelance writers – it brings new knowledge and ensures that you get employed if you take it seriously. Editors will always change something in your writing – they understand better what an audience expects from your pieces of writing. If you are offended with criticism, then your chances to get decent online jobs are low.

Do not miss out any opportunity.

You will hardly succeed in jobs online if you send one article and wait for an answer doing nothing. Doing jobs online means that you should get out there non-stop. Try to bid on more work that you can even handle. You will be proposed fewer jobs than you expect but you will always have what to do.

Freelance career can be a difficult road with many stones but if you are good at writing then you will overcome any obstacles easily.
